Reports to: Senior Director of Marketing
Location:  Remote - onsite once a month. 
Salary: $80,000-$85,000 yearly

Job Summary: 
The Associate Creative Director (ACD) will serve as a steward of our brand and a creative leader within the Marketing team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing, the ACD will be responsible for shaping and maintaining the visual identity of our organization across all platforms. They will oversee the creation of marketing and communications materials, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and impact in alignment with our mission. This role will also supervise and mentor designers, fostering collaboration and professional growth.

Responsibilities:

Brand Leadership
  • Oversee and uphold the organization’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all channels and materials.
  • Work with the Senior Director of Marketing to refine and evolve brand guidelines as the organization grows.
  • Serve as the brand authority, reviewing and approving creative output on all marketing materials.
Creative Direction & Execution
  • Oversee the development of visual assets for digital, print, and event marketing, including campaigns, publications, social media, signage, and promotional materials.
  • Translate strategic objectives into compelling creative concepts that engage and inspire target audiences.
  • Manage the creative process from concept through execution, balancing strategic direction with practical timelines and budgets.
Process & Workflow Improvement
  • Streamline creative workflows by developing standardized processes, templates, and toolkits that empower internal teams to meet smaller design needs (e.g., customizable flyer templates).
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency across the creative function while maintaining brand consistency and quality.
  • Evaluate and implement design tools, asset libraries, and systems that enable the marketing and program teams to collaborate more effectively.
  • Ensure the designers are focused on high-impact, strategic creative projects by balancing in-house production with self-serve solutions.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Directly supervise designers, providing guidance, feedback, and opportunities for skill development.
  • Collaborate with writers, marketers, and program staff to deliver integrated campaigns and content.
  • Ensure that creative assets reflect the values of accessibility, inclusivity, and equity.
Project & Stakeholder Management
  • Work with internal teams to prioritize creative projects, balancing competing deadlines.
  • Review and approve all major creative deliverables prior to Senior Director sign-off (for larger campaigns or major assets).
  • Engage external vendors and freelancers as needed, ensuring quality and alignment with brand standards.
Attributes and Qualifications: Equal consideration will be given to non-academic skills and experiences of candidates.

  • 6+ years of progressive experience in graphic design, creative direction, or brand management, ideally including nonprofit or mission-driven work.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand development, visual storytelling, and multi-channel campaigns.
  • Proven leadership experience managing designers or creative teams.
  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Creative Suite required; Figma or similar tools a plus).
  • Experience in creative oversight for video production and podcasting an asset
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders.
