Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Senior Director of Curriculum and Learning, the Quality Assurance Cultural Standards Manager supports the development, review, and implementation of culturally responsive educational programs and learning resources for rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. This role works collaboratively with educators, community leaders, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, program staff, and partner organizations to ensure curriculum content reflects community values, cultural knowledge, local histories, and inclusive learning practices.
The Manager helps strengthen educational programming through relationship-building, curriculum guidance, cultural consultation, and instructional support that honors Indigenous ways of knowing, intergenerational learning, and community-driven approaches.

Responsibilities: 

Curriculum Development & Review

  • Advise on the design and adaptation of culturally responsive curriculum, lesson plans, and learning materials.
  • Ensure educational resources reflect Indigenous perspectives, local cultures, languages, histories, and lived experiences.
  • Review curriculum content for cultural relevance, accuracy, inclusivity, and accessibility.
  • Support integration of land-based, experiential, and community-centered learning approaches.
  • Collaborate with educators and program teams to align curriculum with organizational goals and educational standards where applicable.

Community Engagement & Relationship Building

  • Build respectful, reciprocal relationships with Indigenous communities, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, families, and local partners.
  • Facilitate community consultation processes to gather input on educational programming and learning priorities.
  • Support community-led initiatives and incorporate feedback into curriculum and program development.
  • Promote culturally safe and inclusive learning environments.
Learning Support & Capacity Building


  • Provide guidance and mentorship to educators, facilitators, and staff on culturally responsive teaching practices.
  • Deliver workshops, presentations, and professional development sessions related to Indigenous education and inclusive learning approaches.
  • Support staff in understanding cultural protocols, respectful engagement practices, and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Assist with development of evaluation tools to assess learning outcomes and community impact.

Program Collaboration & Administration

  • Participate in cross-functional planning and program meetings.
  • Contribute to grant reporting, program documentation, and resource development.
  • Support partnerships with schools, community organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Stay informed about current trends and best practices in Indigenous education, curriculum development, and community-based learning.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Indigenous Studies, Curriculum Development, Social Sciences, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, lived experience, and community knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience working with rural, remote, and/or Indigenous communities.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous histories, cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues.
  • Experience developing, reviewing, or facilitating educational curriculum or learning programs.
  • Understanding of culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and inclusive educational practices.
  • Strong relationship-building and community engagement skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and communities.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to rural and remote communities as required.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Indigenous ancestry and/or strong established relationships within Indigenous communities.
  • Fluency in one or more Indigenous languages
  • Teaching certification or formal training in curriculum and instruction.
  • Experience working in non-profit, community-based, or Indigenous-led organizations.
  • Experience with land-based education, youth programming, adult learning, or intergenerational learning models.
  • Familiarity with grant-funded educational programming and reporting requirements.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, community consultations, or professional development sessions.
  • Knowledge of digital learning platforms and remote education delivery methods.
  • Valid driver’s license and experience traveling in rural or remote regions.

Working Conditions

  • Combination of office, remote, and community-based work environments.
  • Travel to rural and remote communities may be required, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Flexible scheduling may occasionally be needed to accommodate community events, consultations, or programming.
